India has got the fancy of solar power from the early part of this decade. Many started with imported cheap solar kits. Later with prices crashing down in particular last 3 years, the fever has caught everyone. Many are trying to jump into solar power bandwagon either through roof top solar or to gain subsidies for the early ventures.
Indian government too is doing its bit by setting up aggressive targets. Though the government is trying hard to bring natural market forces to develop the industry, however incentives do play a part. The solar power projects are done away from licence raj procedures and many statutory measures are simplified. The solar projects are exempted from statutory environmental clearance as per a new announcement by the Ministry of Environment, provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) notification, 2006 will not be applicable to solar parks and solar PV projects. The disposal of PV cells will however be covered under the provisions of Hazardous and Other Waste (Management and Trans-Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
Besides, there is mushrooming of flat owners, association of people industries, clubs are coming together to pool land and other resources to join this green revolution.
