NHPC is planning to set up a solar park of around 600 MW capacity in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. The project involves setting up the solar park in an island with Ghaghra river flowing from both sides. However, the nearest evacuation point of 400 kv station is 45 kms away and the company is in talks with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation (UPTC) to make the solar park viable.
The project is likely to go operational by end of 2022. It will be developed in a joint venture (JV) with the Uttar Pradesh government or special purpose vehicle (SPV) mode. However, a final decision is likely to be taken after assessing viability of the project.
