Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to set up a 8.0 MW grid connected solar power plant in Hubballi airport premises. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 455.4 million . The authority has invited bids to implement the project on turnkey basis.
The power plant will also serve Ballari airport, Mysuru, Belagavi and HAL. A power purchase agreement has been signed with Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation for wheeling the electricity generated to the required airports.
